Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid? Leverkusen Basically Said: “We Won’t Block His Blessing Arc”

Xabi Alonso remains Real Madrid’s top pick to (maybe) inherit the royal throne at the Bernabéu, and Bayer Leverkusen? They're out here playing the supportive best friend. According to CEO Fernando Carro, there’s a “gentlemen’s agreement” in place, which in football terms is like saying, “We won’t lock the doors if he wants to leave, but we might cry a little.”

“If a team Xabi has played for comes in, we would not prevent him,” said Carro, translating to: “We see you, Real Madrid. We see you lurking.”

And they really do. Carro also mentioned that the decision will be made “in the next three or four weeks” and that Leverkusen and Madrid have a “very good relationship.” Which sounds a lot like two exes trying to co-parent politely before someone finally moves on and marries Xabi.

Alonso’s meteoric rise as a manager has made him Europe’s most wanted sideline brain, and it’s no shock Madrid are circling. He's calm, stylish, and somehow makes tactical flexibility look like an art form. Plus, he already walks like he owns the Bernabéu hallway.

So now we wait, like anxious Madridistas refreshing Fabrizio’s feed, and Leverkusen fans prepping the “Thanks for everything, Mister” video just in case.

Whatever happens, one thing’s for sure: this drama is way too polite. Can someone at least throw a fake rumor in the mix to spice it up a bit?
